very poor management

i visited sam's on6/9/15 at approx.6:15 pm to renew my membership due in july. i stood in line at service counter for over half hour with a line behind me to the entrance. probably approx. 12 people waiting, with only 1 girl working. the manager came by and said people called off and girl working said others out to dinner.really at that time of day with people coming from work. why did the manager not get behind counter and assist. he should be able to do all tasks as a manager. i must say the girl working at counter did the best she could with all the pressure of the line and also...
